Barbara Barrett

REVIEWS

"Like so many jazz fans, I really enjoy the blues and soul... So it was quite a treat for me to find a club devoted almost entirely to the blues. My first visit to the club was to hear Barbara Barrett, a very fine jazz singer who favored ballads over blues although she did a haunting rendition of God Bless the Child... Barbara is a multi-talented woman singing quite comfortably across genres, and I also thoroughly enjoyed her performance, especially her versions of Deep Waters, Chaka Khan’s Everlasting Love, and Betcha By Golly Wow. I was so impressed with the whole ambiance that I stayed through the whole gig. I even resolved to return for more later in the week...So there's no doubt that Fat Fish Blue is as good or better than other blues clubs I've been in. The music is authentic and played by serious professionals...”— Peter Wilson, Central Florida Jazz Society Newsletter

"Wonderful voice Barbara from Cleveland"-Lou Donaldson

"Is it gospel, blues, soul, or jazz? Maybe it is all the above... Barbara Barrett has that rounded sound. Her voice is so mellow, so very easy to accept. The band and Barbara jammed very well! Barbara, you were just great!— @ Mikes Barn Musician’s Club House. (LM, Sandusky, OH, 9/4/11)

“…I’ve been working with Barbara as an artist for 6 years, and I must say that her voice is as silky smooth, and as flexible as they come. Whether it’s singing with the sincerity of a passionate ballad along the lines of Sarah Vaughan, the strength and power that one would associate with Nina Simone, the light-heartedness of a Jobim bossa nova tune, or the soulful sounds associated with Jill Scott, Chaka Khan, or Sade, Barbara sings it with style!” –Danny McElroy, President and CEO of DMAK Enterprises, Promoter and Organizer for The Annual MultiMusicFest, now in it’s 7th year.
